What Does Steph Curry Eat on an NBA Gameday? Full Diet & Nutrition Revealed

Stephen Curry eclipsed LeBron James’ mark last season for the most 45-point performances by a player 35 or older. Turns out, when gameday arrives, Steph Curry’s preparation starts on the plate.

For the Golden State Warriors’ icon, nutrition is much more about just consuming superfoods. Steph Curry aims to consistently follow a balanced diet. For game day, his meals are a carefully curated regimen to give him more energy.

“I eat pretty much the same breakfast every time. It’s some type of egg, an omelet, or like a scramble, something with some breakfast meats in there and some spinach,” Steph Curry told EatingWell.

Besides that, a bowl of yogurt, granola, and some mixed berries, there is also an option for the two-time MVP. Sometimes he enjoys a protein smoothie. On some days, Steph Curry prefers to add a waffle to add a little carb.

The pregame meal may change from time to time, but it usually sticks to the basics. A protein like fish or chicken, vegetables, and a side of pasta or rice.

Steph’s wife, Ayesha, is a New York Times best-selling cookbook author and James Beard Award-nominated chef. Her pasta recipe is a staple in Steph’s game-day routine.

The standout element of Ayesha’s game-day pasta lies in her tomato sauce. It consists of high-quality San Marzano tomatoes, minced garlic, and herbs such as basil and bay leaves. The pasta fuels Stephen with carbohydrates, while the vegetables enhance the dish nutritionally.

For example, eggplant provides extra carbs, fiber, and antioxidants.

Beyond gameday, Curry maintains a consistent daily nutrition routine. Ayesha Curry’s chicken parmigiana and her Spanish-rub chicken with parsley-mint sauce are among Steph’s favourite dishes. An intense training regimen supports this diet routine.

Stephen Curry’s Training Routine

The important part of Steph Curry’s training is improving his basketball skills. During the season, every practice involves him shooting 300 baskets, and during the offseason, Steph Curry increases the intensity to 500 shots.

These shots include spot-up 3’s, where he repeatedly shoots from the same spot on the floor. Then he practises his transitioning from dribbling to shooting with dribble pull-ups. He finishes his shooting routines with floater practice.

Not just his basketball skills, Steph Curry also works on his focus. He uses a combination of a light reaction system and special training goggles to improve his hand-eye coordination and decision-making speed. The goggles challenge his vision during dribbling drills, enhancing his focus and mental processing.

Besides the routine, Steph Curry prioritizes his sleep and makes sure he gets eight hours of sleep and follows a “no screen time” post 10:30 pm.
